FAQ

ANY QUESTIONS?

Frequently asked Questions about our Winter Ice Hockey program.

WHERE DO WE PLAY?

Our Winter Ice Hockey teams practice at SHIELD (Burlington) and Gateway (Hamilton) while our games are played across Southern Ontario as well as US border areas.

WHAT LEAGUE ARE WE IN?

Our Winter Ice Hockey teams participate in the Ontario Rep Hockey League (ORHL) as well as independent tournaments and games. We've been guest members in GTHL and other sanctioned tournaments.

WHO DO WE PLAY?

The teams we play vary by age group. At the moment all of our teams compete in the ORHL (Oakville Oilers, Hamilton Ironmen, etc). We also routinely play Buffalo area teams (eg. Amherst, Buffalo Regals, Power City Bruins).

WHAT LEVEL OF HOCKEY IS THIS?

Each team will play at roughly "AA/A" (Canada) level competition (AAA in US at times). As teams progress throughout the season they may be slated to face more difficult competition.

HOW OFTEN ARE YOU ON THE ICE?

Generally 4.5 hours of on-ice practice as well up to 7.5 hours of games on tournament weekends. Our in-season (winter) programming starts in July.

HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT THAN TYPICAL REP?

Our belief, from experience, is that traditional rep programs focus on winning games; not so much on individual player advancement.

The teams in these other programs "advance" when they cut less skilled players at the end of a season in favor of taking on higher skilled players.

Our model is focused on identifying those individual weaknesses at the onset and addressing them in the initial months. Our teams inevitably evolve throughout the season as individual players "rank up" their skills.
